EA Sports is predicting a heck of a career for Amherst’s Ryan Leonard.
The NHL 26 video game ran career simulations for a handful of rookies and Leonard’s numbers were off the charts. EA projects Leonard to play 1523 NHL games, scoring 681 goals and adding 771 assists. That’d give Leonard the 13th most goals of all time, right in between Teemu Selanne (684) and Luc Robitaille (668).
EA predicted awards too, with Leonard becoming a nine-time All Star, winning the Hart Trophy twice, the Conn Smythe once, and winning the Stanley Cup twice.
Suffice to say, if the video game is correct, Leonard will wind up a no-doubt Hockey Hall of Famer.
The 20-year-old forward was drafted No. 8 overall by the Capitals in 2023, and after two seasons at Boston College, debuted in Washington last spring.
