ROCK HILL, S.C. – Officers say a 14-year-old is dead after being shot by a 15-year-old in Rock Hill on Thursday.

Investigators say it happened just before 1 p.m. inside a unit at the Pepper Ridge Apartments on Springsteen Road.

When they got there, police say they found the 14-year-old, identified as Braylen Jackson, dead.

They believe the 15-year-old was mishandling a gun when it went off.

That person has been turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice and is charged with involuntary manslaughter.
