Community members are raising money for the family of a man who was killed in a construction accident earlier this week.

Pierre Mack, 29, of St. Paul, died Wednesday morning after he was hit by a boom truck in an MnDOT construction zone on I-35W in Burnsville, where he was working as a cement mixer.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Preliminary information from the Minnesota State Patrol reveals that a construction truck with a boom was reversing when it struck Mack, who was on foot.

"There were no other vehicles involved, and this incident took place completely within the construction zone on the highway," State Patrol said.
