James Van Der Beek is one proud papa.

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum was beaming with pride after his eldest child appeared at a reading of the show’s pilot earlier this week in New York City shortly before her birthday.

Van Der Beek was replaced by Lin-Manuel Miranda after he had to miss the event due to stomach viruses. His wife, Kimberly, and kids turned out, however, with his oldest child, Olivia, helping to sing the show’s popular theme , Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Want to Wait,” onstage surrounded by several of the drama’s stars. Van Der Beek was moved, emotions magnified as she celebrated her birthday just a few days later.
