BRANSON, Mo -- Two fishermen found themselves in quite the predicament this morning after a large bird latched itself onto a lure they had thrown near a bank at Table Rock Lake.

Early Friday morning, a father and son fishing duo competing in the Yeti Open fishing tournament had to scramble to get what appeared to be a large heron off of their lure. Cody and Greg Lafferty left the lake with quite a fishing story.

Video at the top of this story shows the moment they gently reeled it in while moving their boat close to get it free.

They say it was not harmed and they were able to get it loose.

"I was using a glide bait, which looks very similar to a fish. I was working it well enough, apparently, that the bird thought it was a fish," Cody told Ozarks First.

"It dove down and got it stuck
