Pickleball continues to grow in popularity, and Lacombe residents will have a chance to try the sport for free soon.
The Lacombe Pickleball Club is hosting a free try-it event on Oct. 6 at Burman University from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Participants only need to bring gym shoes and athletic clothes as equipment will be provided.
Club board chair RoAnna McLenahan said the evening is designed to help new player learn the basics and connect with mentors.
“A lot of people are interested, but it’s hard to know what the sport is about,” she said. “A new player is going to get a lot of support.”
The club has nearly 200 members and offers programming for beginners, youth, and regular play, with plans to expand advanced-level opportunities.
