BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Two men were arrested on suspicion of assault in a homicide that happened in January in downtown Bakersfield.

The men are identified as George Fierro, 23, and Mark Hernandez, 22. Police said Fierro was arrested on suspicion of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and Hernandez on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, assault and battery.

The incident was reported early Jan. 5 in the 1300 block of 19th Street in downtown Bakersfield. The victim was identified as Rolanda Anaya, 46, according to the coroner's office.

Anaya was pronounced dead at the scene. His cause of death was determined to be blunt injuries and the manner was homicide.

Police said the case was submitted to the Kern County District Attorney's Office.
