BAKESFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man who was convicted of killing one man and wounding another in a shooting six years ago remains facing life in prison without parole after a gang enhancement in the case was retried this month and found true.

If the allegations hadn't been found true, Chuca's sentence could have been reduced to 25 years to life, prosecutors said in a release sent Friday.

In 2022, Chuca, 25, was found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted murder with a special circumstance of killing by a street gang member.

The law regarding gang crimes and enhancements changed, however, so the gang enhancement had to be retried.
