SAINT CLOUD, Minn. — You may think that homelessness is just a big city problem.
That's not the case in Saint Cloud, where city leaders believe it's a big enough problem in their community to warrant a new 48-unit complex to help the homeless find stable housing.
"We know there are over 300 people sleeping outside in this community and that is not acceptable to any of us,” Avivo CEO Kelly Matter says.
Avivo is building the facility near the corner of 31st Avenue and 1st Street South in Saint Cloud.
The concept for the facility is modeled after the Avivo Village in Minneapolis.
“We opened our metro facility in 2020 and since then we have helped 300 people find permanent housing,” Matter says.
