EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A rough ride down Pawtucket Avenue in East Providence has damaged nearly a dozen cars over the past week, 12 News has learned.
At least 10 drivers have filed damage claims with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) after their cars hit potholes near St. Mary’s Academy Bay View.
Those who live nearby told 12 News that drivers have been doing their best to dodge the potholes, but it isn't always possible.
"For someone who travels just about every day and had recently had spinal surgery, going in and out of the potholes is–the pain is unbearable," East Providence resident Patricia Bettencourt said. "There's nothing you can do to avoid them. I have driven across the yellow line just to not get stuck in one or go over a large bump."
