A boil water advisory could remain in effect for most of Novi until Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Most Novi residents have been without water or have been under the advisory since a water main broke on 14 Mile Road west of M-5 early Thursday, Sept. 26.

Walled Lake and a small portion of Wolverine Lake are also under the advisory, but officials in those two communities could not be reached Friday, Sept. 27, on when it might be lifted.

A release from Novi on Friday afternoon said water service was restored that morning, but full repairs on the main will likely take several weeks.

The Great Lakes Water Authority, which owns the main, has been working on the main since the break.

A drop in pressure can allow bacterial contaminants to enter the water supply.
