A rainfall warning has been issued for a large chunk of western Vancouver Island.
Environment Canada said Friday (Sept. 26) that a strong Pacific storm tracking off Haida Gwaii is expected to bring heavy rainfall this afternoon until Saturday morning.
Rainfall totals could amount to 100 millimetres, impacting western communities south of Port Alice to parts of Greater Victoria.
“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible,” Environment Canada warned. “Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.”
The public is encouraged to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
