KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — When senior linebacker Luke Lindsay transferred from Campbell County to Powell High School, he expected to make his final high school football season one to remember. However, a devastating injury over the summer nearly brought his plans to a halt before they even began.
“I caught a ball over the middle when we were doing some seven-on-seven stuff,” Lindsay said. “I went to put my foot in the ground to get a few more yards, and when I did, my knee shot back and I heard a pop.”
That "pop" turned out to be a torn ACL, one of the most feared injuries in football — and one that could easily end a high school career. For Lindsay, the diagnosis felt like a punch to the gut. But it wasn’t just his season that took a hit — his teammates felt it too.
