ALBERT LEA, Minn. — The City of Albert Lea is urging residents to adopt natural methods for managing yard waste at home to support environmental health and enhance yard vitality. "Grasscycling," or leaving grass clippings on the lawn, and "leaving the leaves" are recommended practices. These methods return nutrients to the soil and use fallen leaves as mulch to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. "Leaving the leaves, or mulching them with a mower, can offer a lot of benefits for wildlife and your garden. It can also save time and money by eliminating the need to rake or buy mulch and fertilizer,” said John Ryther, City of Albert Lea environmental engineer and chair of the Albert Lea Green Team. Residents are encouraged to keep yard waste like leaves out of landfills. Co
