NEW YORK (PIX11) – President Donald Trump appeared at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black on Long Island on Friday.
In doing so, Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to attend the golf tournament.
The president entered through a tunnel beneath the grandstand, with an announcer announcing his arrival. The crowd cheered and broke into “USA!” chants. European fans responded with “Ole!” but were quickly drowned out.
However, it wasn’t all fun for Trump; he also took time to speak with Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, according to Blakeman’s office.
"It was an honor to have President Trump in Nassau County for the Ryder Cup. The crowd loved him, and he thoroughly enjoyed his time here. We had an extensive conversation about important issues concerning the nation and the region,”
