FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A local nonprofit organization celebrated a milestone on Friday.

The Boys & Girls Club of Fort Wayne hosted its first-ever game in its new Youth Sports League at Lutheran Park.

From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., athletes took to the field in their uniforms with their teammates as their families cheered from the sidelines.

The organization says the league is about more than just games, but providing children with a safe space, positive role models, and the confidence to grow through teamwork and mentorship.

“This is the beginning of a new tradition for our city,” said the organization’s Athletic Director, Jakil Jelks. “One that brings families together and creates lasting memories for our youth.
