BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Six different Badgers found the back of the net Friday night as the No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team opened the season with a 9-2 road win over Bemidji State.

Charlotte Pieckenhagen, Cassie Hall and Kelly Gorbatenko each had one goal apiece while Kirsten Simms, Maggie Scannell and Lacey Eden each found the net twice.

The Badgers have made a tradition of beating up on the Beavers. Over the last two season, Wisconsin has outscored Bemidji State 65-3 over 10 games. While Friday's game continued the trend, the Badgers took an unconventional route to get there.

The first goal of the game didn't come until late in the first period, when Kirsten Simms was able to beat Beavers netminder Kaitlin Groess glove side. Groess was otherwise phenomenal in the opening frame, ending
