GENOA — In the 101st Battle for the Celestial Ball, Genoa grabbed an early two-touchdown lead over rival Oak Harbor and upset the Rockets 34-19 on Friday night.
Genoa forced three turnovers — two interceptions and a fumble — on Oak Harbor’s first three possessions to grab a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and then held off the Rockets.
Oak Harbor (5-1) lost for the first time ever in Northern Buckeye Conference play. The Rockets, who have won two straight NBC titles since joining the league in 2023, fell to 2-1 in league play.
