It didn't take long for the inevitable question to be asked on social media following WVU's 17-10 loss to the Ohio Bobcats on Sept. 6.

"What is Rich Rodriguez's contract buyout?"

If I saw it once, I saw it hundreds of times. Or at least it seemed that way.

Rodriguez's contract, by the way, is a five-year deal set to pay him $3.5 million this season and increasing by $100,000 in each year after that, the Associated Press reported.

So, can those individuals please pump the brakes?

Yes, WVU has a history, since 2000, that's won a lot, much of it coming during Rodriguez's first tenure from 2001-07, with 60 victories during that stretch.

And yes, the Mountaineers have had just two 10-win seasons since 2007, coming in 2011 and 2016.
