LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Michigan House has passed a bill that aims to eliminate Bridge Card fraud. It would require that all Michigan Bridge Cards used for programs like food assistance and cash benefits have a photo ID and signature directly on the card.
The bill was introduced by Republican Representative Jason Woolford. He said fraud involving food assistance programs is a huge problem in Michigan.
“This is someone else’s money. This is taxpayer money. We owe it to the taxpayers that we’re doing everything we can, so that we have a system that we all can believe in and trust,” said Rep. Jason Woolford (R) Howell.
The bill has been strongly opposed by some House Democrats, Representative Penelope Tsernoglou being one of them. She said it would cost our state millions of dollars, a
