NEWPORT, Tenn. — The phrase "Shine On" holds a special place for the City of Newport .

The city unveiled a mural Friday with the words "Shine On, Newport" a reminder to the community that they will prevail through the devastation of the last year.

"We're here because this is a very special night and they're commemorating what happened with Helene, the people we've lost and how well we've recovered from it," Laura Vajda, Owner of Laura's Country Kitchen, said.

The event also hosted a vendor fair where businesses lined the street to show off their creations.

"There are a lot of artistic, talented people in this area, and so between the food trucks and the art and the crafts — this is just wonderful, I love it," Kelly Vaupel, a landscape artist, said.
