ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - More than two dozen people are now American citizens after a naturalization ceremony Friday at St. Louis City Hall.
The group of 27 had people from Canada, Pakistan and more.
Some had lived in the U.S. for decades with a green card, but now gain new rights as a full citizen.
“I’m just really happy to be taking this step so that I am able to vote and have all the rights and privileges of being an American,” said Elizabeth Ducey Moss.
Moss has lived in the U.S. since 1996 and is originally from Canada.
“We’ve sacrificed so many things back home and earlier, we work every day. Sometimes we work 12 hours a day,” said new citizen Zafar Kidwai, originally from Pakistan.
Each year, more than 800,000 people become U.S. citizens around the country.
