HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Loved ones of a young man killed in a crash on Oahu’s North Shore are now grappling with broken hearts as they mourn the loss of Koali Denning-Ring.

The 21-year-old was hit on the Joseph P. Leong Highway in Haleiwa just after 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“Our family is broken right now. It’s gonna take forever, and my poor granddaughter is only two. She was the light of his life,” Denning-Ring’s grandmother, Keali’i Grilho, said.

Denning-Ring’s vehicle was one of several hit when a 58-year-old driver crossed the center line. Other drivers were sideswiped.

“He loved his daughter. He loved his family. He would give you the shirt off his back to help. Just a wonderful great man that we’re all so proud of him,” his grandmother, Genevieve Denning, said.
