CADILLAC- The city of Cadillac gave the greenlight to more affordable housing Friday.

The city council held a public hearing late this afternoon, and voted unanimously to approve a Brownfield development that would bring 9 duplexes to Cadillac.

City manager, Marcus Peccia, said the proposed project, known as the Copper Trail Duplex Brownfield Development Plan, would be located in this field in the 300 block of Kentucky Avenue.

The development would provide homes for 18 families who are looking to buy.

He said because it’s a Brownfield project, the target price would be for households of 120% of the median income or less.
