PLAINS TWP. — Ciro Cinti has been coaching in some form or another for four decades. He was quick to note that Wilkes-Barre Area’s win Friday night was the ugliest of his career.

Hyperbole or not, the Wolfpack coach’s displeasure seemed evident in a 35-21 victory over Hazleton Area. Wilkes-Barre Area fumbled the ball four times, committed nine penalties, and let a four-touchdown lead turn into a potential comeback in just a matter of minutes.

“That was the worst win in all the years I’ve been coaching,” Cinti said. “We just cannot have that many personal fouls and penalties against good teams. That’s going to kill us.

“Listen, I’d rather win ugly than lose anytime. I always say that, and I truly believe it.”
