With two games left in the regular season the Padres still have an opportunity to host the National League Wild Card series. Sure, a lot has to happen over the weekend, but even a slight chance is better than no chance.
The Friars beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-4 on Friday night to open the final homestand of the year at Petco Park. The Cubs also beat the Cardinals so, for San Diego to host the first round of the playoffs they'll have to win the next two while Chicago loses a pair to the Cardinals. Anything other than that means the Padres go to Wrigley Field for the best-of-three Wild Card round.
