ELLSWORTH -- The Waterville Panthers made the drive up to Ellsworth to take on the Eagles on Friday night.

In the third quarter, Eagles running back Riley Duhaime took a handoff from his quarterback and ran through multiple defenders on his way to a first down.

On fourth down inside the redzone the Eagles elected to go for it. The pass was put up in the air for an Ellsworth receiver but Xander Kornsey was there for the Panthers to deny the first down and Waterville would take over.

After a tightly contested fourth quarter, it was Ellsworth who came away the win 40-36.

Ellsworth (1-3) will face MDI next Friday, while Waterville will take on Houlton (0-4) next Saturday.
