Boston City Councilors Ed Flynn and Erin Murphy are in danger of being marginalized in City Hall, earnest yet ineffective at getting their initiatives passed and ignored by Mayor Michelle Wu.
The conservative dynamic duo representing the minority on the council against Wu and her progressive flunkies have repeatedly seen their proposals and bills rejected or just ignored by Council President Ruthzee Louijeune, a Wu ally.
The pair – sometimes joined by Councilor John FitzGerald – will likely spend Wu’s second term wandering in the wilderness, having little impact other than sounding the alarm about the mayor’s ill-conceived proposals.
But if they pick their targets better, they could regain some power and present a threat to Wu.
