Arunachal: High in the icy terrains of the Himalayas, where temperatures drop below –20°C and altitudes exceed 15,000 feet, nine Tibetan refugee women are quietly reshaping the narrative of women’s roles in nation-building.
Employed with the 763 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Vartak, these women work alongside their male counterparts in one of the most challenging environments in the country. From breaking stones to transporting materials and assisting in high-altitude road construction, their efforts contribute directly to improving connectivity in remote border areas.
