FARGO — Fargo plans to negotiate a deal with neighboring Harwood to annex a $3 billion artificial intelligence data center into its city limits.
Fargo leaders will pursue annexing land north of the city’s sewage lagoons that will soon include a 280-megawatt AI data center, Assistant City Attorney Erik Johnson said in a statement to The Forum. The city could ask the North Dakota Governor’s Office to form a committee to mediate discussions with Harwood, Johnson said.
“We would welcome an opportunity to sit down with Harwood to discuss the matter to reach a mutually agreeable outcome before a formal mediation process were to begin,” Johnson said in a Tuesday, Sept. 23, statement.
The deadline for written protests of the annexation is Oct. 31, and Fargo will hold a public hearing Nov. 10,
