AZUSA – A man was fatally shot on an elevated embankment on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Azusa Friday.

Officers responded around 2:55 p.m. Friday to the freeway east of Citrus Avenue to reports regarding a shooting, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was located at the location and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

Detectives from the CHP Southern Division Major Crimes Unit joined the investigation based on the location and circumstances of the situation. The motive leading to the fatal shooting remains unknown, and there was no description of a possible suspect.
