BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The City of Bowling Green has launched a program that could help dozens of students connect with their local community.

Caden Lucas, a student at Western Kentucky University, helped launch the Downtown Ambassador Academy, hoping to get students involved in the city they live in during the school year.

Lucas said, “We really wanted to get students engaged in that culture.”

The program aims to help 25 students connect to the institutions that help keep downtown Bowling Green running.

Lucas said, “One day it will be dedicated to economic development workforce, and getting them connected to downtown businesses and the work the chamber of commerce does.”

The program will meet six times between October and April. Each session will last five to six hours. Every session,
