WASHINGTON — About 20,000 cooling gel insert pads for car seats and strollers have been recalled after reports that the products can overheat and cause burns to children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this week .

The recall involves Hoovy Cooling Gel Insert Pads, which were sold at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com and Walmart.com from March through July 2025 for $20 to $25, the CPSC said.

The pads, designed to keep children cool, can become dangerously hot if left in a hot car or direct sunlight, posing a burn hazard. AMTRADING LLC, the Brielle, New Jersey-based importer, said it has received one report of a child suffering second-degree burns that required medical attention, according to the CPSC.
