CLEVELAND, Ohio — Tramell Reese’s 96-yard kickoff return gave Benedictine a 16-14 win over St. Ignatius in their first meeting since 2004 on Friday night.
Reese’s return came with 4:28 left in the game (the extra point failed), after the Wildcats had scored 14 straight points to take a 14-10 lead.
St. Ignatius had received the second half kickoff and stepped up its offense. Trey Haddad scored the Wildcats’ first touchdown on a long pass from Jacob Mikin with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter.
The Wildcats’ Owen Coldwell managed to sprint into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown to give them their first lead with 4:40 left in the game.
That set the stage for Reese’s return.
