Car crashes, traffic advisory: I-271

Police responded to at least six crashes in as many days between Sept. 19 and 25 through the freeway construction zone leading up to the interchange at Cedar and Brainard roads.

In one accident, two of three drivers were taken to Hillcrest Hospital for injuries, suspected to be serious. Police also issued multiple tickets for failure to control and assured clear distance ahead (ACDA).

Pepper Pike police further cautioned northbound drivers about the closing of the northbound loop ramp to Cedar Road westbound for about two weeks beginning Sept. 29.

While the months-long construction is almost complete, police expect the westbound Cedar lane closure will cause more traffic back-ups and slow-downs along I-271.
