Josh Line once defined the dominance of Sheldon football. But as the head coach of Willamette on Friday, he may have taken the torch from the Irish.

Line’s Sheldon program had long been a well-respected powerhouse in the Eugene area, earning a trip to the Class 6A state championship game in 2022 while winning 27 games across his last three seasons at Sheldon before stepping away in December of 2023 .

Shortly thereafter, Line took over a Willamette program coming off an 0-9 season, and since then, it’s been a steady climb for the Wolverines leading to Friday, shifting the power dynamic in the Eugene area and dominating Line’s former team 29-7.
