Ryan Reynolds chose to hurl profanities at wife Blake Lively rather than miss a phone call from Bill Murray .

On Thursday (September 25), the 48-year-old appeared at a screening of his new documentary John Candy: I Like Me held at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

During the event, Ryan , who produced the doc, said that he left “40 messages” for the 75-year-old Groundhog’s Day actor in an attempt to get him to participate in the project about the late comedian John Candy , according to The Daily Mail .

Ryan said that he was able to get Bill ‘s phone number from “a friend of a friend of a friend” and left a voicemail requesting the opportunity to “pick his brain” over John ‘s life.

“I’ll come to you. I’ll do whatever it takes,” Ryan recalle
