If you spend time enough on or near the ocean, you’re likely to see an occasional green flash. But you’d have to be extra fortunate to witness the phenomenon with dolphins in the foreground.
The accompanying footage, captured recently by Erica Sackrison of Gone Whale Watching San Diego, shows dolphins porpoising across the surface just as a green flash occurs.
Owner Domenic Biagini’s description begins:
“For millennials like Erica and myself, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were a staple of our collective childhoods. From the moment I moved to San Diego and began spending so much time on the ocean, I dreamed of one day seeing a whale or a pod of dolphins right as the green flash appeared.
“The green flash phenomenon is not very common, and we’re lucky if we see it a few times each year!”
