There were some big changes last year in Alabama’s list of most popular baby names, including a new No. 1 for baby girls.

After three years at the number one spot, the name Olivia was dethroned by a new queen: Charlotte. Meanwhile, the top three boy names stayed the same, with the most popular one keeping its spot for the 30th consecutive year.

Charlotte is the new most popular girl name

For the first time since 1910, the first year name data from the Social Security Administration was immediately available, the name Charlotte became the most popular girl name in Alabama in 2024.

That was a slight departure from the nation as a whole, where Olivia, which was the most popular girl name in Alabama from 2021 to 2023, was still No. 1. Charlotte ranked
