Mitchell Lindsey, 30, of Emporia, will not have a jury trial next week, as he has entered a no contest plea to one count of attempted arson.
Lindsey was arrested on July 17 following a fire at his residence at 132. W. 12th Avenue. According to the affidavit filed in the case, he was charged with one count of aggravated arson. Lindsey is represented by attorney Rick Meier and posted bond for $5,000.
The plea agreement was reached just days before his jury trial was set to begin. Following the acceptance of his plea, the judge ordered a presentence evaluation be completed. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 10.
