Jazz Chisholm Jr. exited the Yankees’ game against the Orioles in serious pain on Saturday, as the second baseman took a 96.8-mph sinker to his left forearm in the fifth inning.
The at-bat-opening pitch, thrown by wild Orioles lefty Grant Wolfram, sent Chisholm straight to the Yankees’ dugout, where a trainer and bench coach Brad Ausmus — Aaron Boone was ejected earlier in the inning — tended to the agonizing star. José Caballero pinch-ran for Chisholm before taking over at second base.
A short time later, the Yankees announced that team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad examined Chisholm and that initial X-rays on his forearm came back clean. However, Chisholm still had to undergo a CT scan as well.
