WASHINGTON — The start of Saturday’s Chicago White Sox game against the Washington Nationals will be delayed because of rain.

The contest was scheduled to begin at 3:05 p.m. CT at Nationals Park.

“We are currently monitoring an inclement weather system in the area,” the Nationals wrote on social media. “The start of today’s game has been delayed. We will provide an update as more information becomes available.”

The Sox won Friday’s series opener 10-9 behind a two-run home run in the ninth inning by Colson Montgomery. The Sox won despite allowing six home runs and wasting an 8-1 lead.

Tyler Gilbert is slated to be Saturday’s opener for the Sox.
