FARGO, N.D. (KELO) -- No. 17 South Dakota suffered a 51-13 defeat at top-ranked North Dakota State inside the FargoDome in its Missouri Valley Football Conference opener Saturday afternoon.

The Bison scored touchdowns on each of their five drives in the first half and led 34-3 at halftime. They scored on their first seven drives of the game and had a pick-6.

NDSU outgained USD 547-296, including 274-88 on the ground.

Coyote QB Aidan Bouman went 13-for-21 for 208 yards with one interception. L.J. Phillips Jr. rushed for 38 yards on 11 carries. He also caught three passes for 34 yards.

NDSU quarterback Cole Payton went 14-for-18 for 273 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 102 yards on 11 carries and one score. Barika Kpeenu notched two TDs on the ground as well. Bryce Lance haul
