On Monday, Floridians will remember the sacrifice made by yet another member of law enforcement.
“On Friday, September 19, 2025, Trooper Craig Gaines tragically succumbed to injuries he sustained in the line of duty. Trooper Gaines was a hero who took pride in protecting his community from danger,” reads a memo from Gov. Ron DeSantis .
A Navy veteran like the Governor himself, Gaines served as a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles since 2008.
He was also a family man, married for 28 years with three children.
“He lived a life of service and will be remembered for his unwavering strength, compassion, and commitment to those he loved,” the Governor writes.
