Construction is scheduled to begin next week on resurfacing and other improvements on U.S. 17 from Oak Street to Black Creek.
Duval Asphalt is estimated to complete the $12.2 million project by late 2026.
The project aims to help eliminate long delays for northbound traffic on U.S. 17.
Changes include replacing the existing traffic signal at County Road 209 (Russell Road) and adding directional islands in the median, adding a new signal at Mahama Bluff Road, lengthening the northbound left turn lane on U.S. 17, and enhancing roadway lighting.
The existing media opening at Boivin Road and CR 209 will be modified and the full media opening will be converted to a directional median opening, allowing for southbound to eastbound turn movements from U.S. 17 to CR 209.
