PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Congress and the White House have until Oct. 1 to get a budget passed and signed to prevent a government shutdown.

Republicans and Democrats are at an impasse about what to do to prevent a shutdown. Both feel that the other party could be doing more to get a budget passed.

Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) said he has voted for a continuing resolution that would keep the government funded until Nov. 20. This is a temporary measure that extends last year’s funding level. However, that plan would need approval from the Senate and the White House to go forward.
