GRANGEVILLE, Idaho – One Idaho Department of Lands firefighter is dead after she was struck by a falling tree while assisting with a prescribed fire in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests.
Isabella Oscarson, the firefighter who was killed, was a seasonal employee who lived in Minnesota. She died on September 26, 2025 in the evening, according to the Idaho Department of Lands.
She had been helping with the U.S. Forest Service’s Tinker Bugs prescribed fire when she was hit by the falling tree.
She was evacuated from the scene and flown to Grangeville, where she died as a result of her injuries.
