Yosemite, Yosemite Valley and Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra are the focus of a weather alert for strong thunderstorms issued at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday by the National Weather Service. The alert is in effect until 4:45 p.m.

The storms could bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).

“At 4:10 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 8 miles southeast of Yosemite Valley, or 11 miles northeast of Yosemite South Entrance, moving southwest at 5 mph,” according to the NWS Hanford CA . “Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Bridalveil Creek Campground, Wawona, Badger Pass Ranger Station, Wawona Campground, Ostrander Lake and Wawona Vistor Center.
