(FOX40.COM) — The Hillshire Brands Company, a Haltom City, Tex. establishment, has recalled over 55 million pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products. The company said the products are contaminated with extraneous material, specifically pieces of wood embedded in the batter. • Video above: How do recalls work?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Saturday that the products that are being recalled are the ones packaged between March 17 and Sept. 26.

The items were sold online and shipped to retail and food services nationwide, as well as being sold to school districts and the Department of Defense facilities, according to FSIS.
