Roughly 58 million pounds of Hillshire Brands Company corn dog and sausage on a stick products were recalled after injuries from pieces of wood embedded in the batter were reported, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Saturday.
Over 25 different products that are carried at Walmart, Meijer and Target were recalled, mostly from popular brands like Jimmy Dean and State Fair.
According to the recall announcement, the products were sold online and shipped to retail, food service locations, school districts and Department of Defense facilities nationwide.
The products distributed to schools were from commercial sales, not part of food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program, according to the announcement .
